One of the older Samba Schools

has been winning the Carnival Samba parade competition for years.

The Comissao de carnival represents the Beija-Flor samba academy as the Carnavalesco each year. The colors of blue and white represent this stellar academy of dance that is well known for ranking in the high scores of all the attending samba schools on the Carnival parade route.

The Beija-Flor School of samba was a dream that was brought to life on December 25th, 1948. This school was born on Christmas Day and has since been the only school for samba that has ever come out of the Nilopolis District.

Each year the Beija-Flor samba dancers perform Carnival goers get a chance to see another amazing show. These dancers have done some of the most incredible samba routines in the history of samba and Carnival.

The excellence in their routines is obvious by the high scores they are continually graced with. The Beija-Flor managed to win in 2003 and 2004. In 2001 the samba school received high honors with a second place win as well.

The number of championships and high rankings this group manages to get its no wonder why they are part of the samba schools special group of parade participants. Each year their performances get better. The lavish stories manage to show such truth and culture about the Brazilian dance of samba, the costumes are a pure sight to see, and the women dancing for their heritage make it all worth while.

From the years since the Beija-Flor Samba School was born they have managed to create some of the most effective and thought provoking dances in the history of Carnival. The Beija-Flor has received high marks in dance and it seems they will continue to do so.
