The Caprichosos de Pilares was formed officially on February 19th, 1949. The
symbol of the school shows true tradition and culture for Brazil. The Caprichosos
de Pilares symbol is two snakes and they were chosen in homage to the Brazilian
small squares that fought in the Great War. The school colors for the Caprichosos
de Pilares are blue and white.
Since the school's foundation in 1949 the Caprichosos de Pilares has already won three championships of the Rio Carnivals. The years the school took home the head prize were in 1960, 1971, and 1982.
Originally the Caprichosos de Pilares was formed by Fernando Leandro and today the leader is a relative, Alberto Leandro. Despite not having won any traditional honors in the last 22 years of parades, the Caprichosos de Pilares continues to live up to their heritage with honor, pride, and dedication. Regardless of the judges not offering these samba enthusiasts high awards, the public is still well aware of their excellence and the cultural significance that they have brought to the area.
The Caprichosos de Pilares is a samba school that is known for their interesting dances and melodies and their hard work meant to impress the crowd and honor the founders of the samba school. These new generations of samba dancers are inspired by their former ancestors that followed along with this age old Brazilian tradition.
Samba and Carnival is something that fuels Brazil all year long. The Caprichosos
de Pilares School for samba and the well trained dancers are proud of the
legacy that they are able to continue for years to come. It doesn't matter
if you visit Rio de Janeiro or are watching the samba dancers on the television
you never forget the magic appeal of the dedicated and dazzlingly dressed
dancers.
