Having split off from the Portela,
the Tradicao Samba School offers
some of the best performances Carnival has seen in recent years.

The Tradicao has a rich and interesting history that has lead some of the most breathtaking samba dancers to the parade route in years. Originally formed on January 10th, 1984 the Tradicao was once a part of another samba group, the well known and quite famous, Portela.

After various sections had been removed in Portela the Tradição was formed. The school for accomplished samba styles would adopt the symbol of the prestigious condor and the varied colors of gold, silver, and two beautiful shades of blue.

Part of the special group, the Tradicao is famed for their samba moves. The music and stories correlate perfectly with one another and the dancers are surely a sight to see. These men and women work hard throughout the year to show the true pleasure and beauty of the samba lifestyle.

Deep traditional heritage is a guiding force of many samba enthusiasts. The amazing performs that offer their samba moves and traditional dazzling garb are from long lines of dancing families. The musicians that formed the samba musical melodies were often preceded by their family members to carry on the firm and honest tradition of the Brazilian culture.

High rankings come naturally for the hard working samba dancers of the traditionally world renowned Tradicao. Each year the school manages to do quite well especially since their hard work has paid off and they have been recognized for their vast talents by allowing them a place in the special group of famed samba schools.

The Tradicao dancers and musicians are truly some of the most hardworking and amazing people in the Rio de Janeiro samba circuit today. The beauty in the outfits compliments the natural beauty that is provided by the dancers. Meanwhile, the well thought-out dances shock and please the crowds every year. It is no wonder why both judges and Carnival goers favor the Tradicao samba school and their dancers.
